MAPS College Graduation 2018

Over 140 students attended the MAPS College 2018 Graduation ceremony at Ghiyasuddin International School, Male’ on 30 June 2018.

The ceremony marked the completion of studies of MAPS College students graduating from Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate’s degree, Bachelors Degree and Masters level programmes in the Maldives.

The Chief Guest of the ceremony, State Minister of Education, Dr. Abdulla Nazeer, spoke about the importance of education on an individual, national and social level, and the role of education in developing the Maldives as a nation.

The ceremony included the largest ever cohort of MBA graduates from MAPS College, with over 50 MBA graduates attending the ceremony to celebrate their success with their families, peers and lecturers.

Mr. Abdul Azeez Ibrahim, Deputy Rector of MAPS College, opened the ceremony with a speech outlining the role of the College in the nation, and in the lives of its students. Mr. Abdul Azeez Ibrahim also took time to thank the MAPS College Crystal Award winners, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Greater Male’ Industrial Zone Ltd.; thanking both organisations for their ongoing support of MAPS College students and of the MAPS College Student Association.

The ceremony also saw the first batch of University of Bedfordshire students graduating, with the first Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Administration students attending the ceremony. A notable achievement of the College is the 100% pass rate of University of Bedfordshire students so far.

Prizes were awarded to the student from each course at MAPS College who achieved the highest results. The Associate’s degree award winning students also received an award from Pearson UK, thanks to the Associate’s degree being dual awarded with a Pearson UK qualification.

The final award of the evening was the prestigious MBA Valedictorian Award, presented to Ms. Fathimath Nuzla, who scored the highest GPA on the MBA course out of all students graduating this year. Ms. Fathimath Nuzla delivered an emotional closing speech at the ceremony, highlighting the sacrifices made by many parents to provide educational opportunities for their children, and how such opportunities can be transformational in their lives.

Looking forward, MAPS College continues to enroll students throughout 2018 to its range of business qualifications, with many of its local and internationally accredited courses offering monthly intakes throughout the year.
